⚈ Buy a special backpack or suitcase for carry-on luggage. They fit the requirements of most airlines.
⚈ Take a bag or backpack that can adjust to the size of the carry-on luggage. To do this, do not fill it tightly and tighten the straps on the sides.
⚈ Weigh your carry-on luggage yourself at home or the airport. New rules for carry-on luggage.
When you book a flight, there’s always the question of whether you want to check your luggage or bring it on the plane, but for some, that may no longer be an option. The International Air Transport Association is pushing to make carry on bags even smaller. Here’s a better look at what they would like to do.
It’s all in an effort to free up some space in packed overhead bins. The International Air Transport Association is proposing a 21% reduction in size on carry on bags. The recommendations suggest that carry on size should be 21.5 inches tall, 13.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep. Now, this is smaller compared to the maximum size allowed on many airlines like American, Delta and United who all currently allow bags up to 22 inches tall, 14 inches wide and nine inches deep. The new suitcase would lose about an inch on each side. The IATA believes these changes would make a big difference. They say it would create consistency for all airlines and give all passengers a chance to store their carry on bags.
